This past week we were down at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and there was wonderful artwork around every corner! The first painting that grabbed my attention looked like it could be a quilt - I had to get a closer look just to make sure. It was a grid drawn on canvas with a circle painted in each square. It was amazing how something so simple could be so interesting.
Right around the corner, were the balloons on steroids - wait a minute - it's a glass sculpture! The entire ceiling had a variety of these fun sculptures - too bad they were up so high, because I would have loved a closer look. There was a holiday singalong at the piano which made these seem festive - I could see a Christmas quilt in these shades of turquoise, lime green, and gold!
This wonderful piece was hanging by the elevators - poor Kirk had to wait while I looked in every nook because I remembered seeing it but forgot which floor - and I wanted a picture. I just love the calming colors and the simple shapes.
Here's Kirk's favorite piece of artwork - the s'mores at the Bonfire restaurant in Woodbury, where we had lunch on the way home. It has layers of graham crackers, chocolate chips, and marshmallow creme, topped with rows of mini-marshmallows and broiled. And more chocolate drizzled on top - yum!! And it even has the same color scheme as the last picture . . .
